Jumping for joy to share what March has had instore for Akers of Art

The tree of Life jpg

As the weather starts to turn and signs of Spring appear everywhere, I’m reminded of why I chose the tree of life as my signature piece. A symbol of growth, evolving life cycles and strength, the tree of life encapsulates so many emotions and I absolutely love creating my very own versions of the uniqueness nature has to offer.

Celebrating all Mothers

With the celebration of Mother’s Day I have been busy making lots of orders including jewellery pieces for wonderful Mothers, from rings and bracelets to necklaces and even small-scale tree of life structures. I am very close to my Mum and any opportunity she gets, she wears my jewellery, hangs my art on her walls and tells everyone she knows about Akers of Art, it’s so great having her being such a champion of my business.

What a transformation

Final piece - Willow tree jpeg

I am always so proud when I see first-hand, the transformation one of my wall art pieces creates. I recently completed and installed this stunning willow tree commission for a client’s home. They wanted something that would evoke and awaken the senses without being stark and overly bold. They were keen to commission a piece that complimented their existing colour scheme and that looked at home in the space. After initial consultations and showing the client various wire and gemstone options, they chose this spectacular combination of gilt wire with green aventurine and Indian agate gemstones, which I think match the brief perfectly. If you have a space you think needs a transformation, please contact me for a free consultation.

Corporates love art too

I love it when an organisation decides to step away from the norm and show their personality to stand out in a saturated world. When I was approached by Sheridan Accountancy Services Ltd I learned that they wanted to create something that not only represented their passion for growth and nurturing of their client’s businesses but that also showed that their approach to accounting is creative, innovative and supportive. We felt that the Tree of Life beautifully represented all of those qualities that they hold so dear. They chose a combination of copper wire and stunning Indian Agate gemstones, which I then combined with other coloured gemstones to compliment their company logo. If you would like to inject some character into your office space, please contact me to arrange a free 30 minute consultation.

Library Ambassador

Ambassador and mentor at Birmingham central Library jpg

March saw the return of my role as ambassador for the ‘Library of Birmingham’. As a hub for individuals wanting to learn and develop knowledge and skillsets, they offer a multitude of support for small businesses and creatives. As part of their many business incentive schemes, I have been invited to share my experiences and learnings behind running a small business with others who are just starting on their journeys. I hope that my insights can help the next generation of creatives and entrepreneurs.

New framing option launching soon

Blacksmiths Birmingham new frames jpeg

This past week, I was very excited to visit a fantastic Blacksmiths in Yardley, Birmingham to talk to them about creating bespoke metal frames for my wall decor and outdoor art pieces. Walking around the busy workshop and seeing the variety of metals really inspired me and it was so enjoyable to see the process the metal goes through to get to its finished state. I’m really excited to be able to share my plans for more outdoor installations and also the wonderful metal frames I will be able to offer for interior and exterior projects.
